Alabama extended its win streak to four games with a 89-75 win over South Carolina.
The Crimson Tide came out of the gate hot and established a 13-point lead at halftime. South Carolina cut the lead to seven with under eight minutes to play before Alabama eventually stretched its lead out to 14. The win improves the Crimson Tide to 18-7 overall and 8-4 in the SEC.
Here are a few takeaways from the game.
- Much Better Start
Alabama had its worst first half of the season in the last game, scoring just 32 points. Saturday was a much better start as the Crimson Tide eclipsed 32 points in just 15 minutes and finished the half with 45 points on 55% shooting from the floor.
- Turnover Trouble
The only thing that kept South Carolina remotely in the game was Alabama's turnovers. The Crimson Tide turned the ball over 12 times, leading to 12 South Carolina points off turnovers. Not only did the turnovers result in bonus points for the Gamecocks, it also took away offensive possessions from Alabama.
- Dominated the Glass
At times this season, Alabama has struggled to win the battle on the glass. On Saturday, the Crimson Tide took advantage of a bad rebounding team. Alabama outrebounded the Gamecocks 43-29. Amari Allen led the way, pulling down 10 rebounds, while London Jemison was second on the team with eight.
- Wrightsell Stays Hot
Injuries have been an issue for Latrell Wrightsell, but when on the court, he is a difference maker for Alabama. Coming off a 21-point performance in which he tied a career high three-point makes with seven, Wrightsell followed it up with 19 points and three made three-pointers. Wrightsell also pulled down three rebounds and made three assists.
Alabama will travel to Arkansas on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
