No. 23 Alabama dropped another game on the road, losing its fifth straight against No. 19 Florida by a score of 100-77.

The Crimson Tide kept the game within arm's reach for most of the first half, but a Gator scoring run blew the game open, and Alabama never could close the gap. Alabama fell to 14-7 overall and 4-4 in the SEC with the loss.

Here are a few takeaways from the game.

  1. Too Many Turnovers

Alabama did a poor job of protecting the basketball on Sunday. The Crimson Tide turned the ball over nine times in the first half, leading to 12 points for Florida. The Gators handled the ball flawlessly in the first half, turning it over not once. The second half wasn’t much better as Alabama turned it over nine more times for a total of 18 turnovers for the game and allowed Florida to score 25 points off its turnovers.

  1. Paint Defense

The Crimson Tide had zero answers for defending the Florida offense inside the paint. Even with Charles Bediako in for Alabama, Florida had its way inside the paint all game long. Anytime Florida wanted a bucket, it could toss it inside to one of its bigs, and the result was usually an easy score for the home team. The Gators scored 72 of their 100 points inside the paint.

  1. Stagnant Offense

Give credit to the Florida defense, as it made things difficult for the Alabama offense. The size of the Gators inside affected the Crimson Tide's dribble drives and layup attempts. Florida was able to dictate the pace and slow down the usually fast-paced and efficient Alabama offense, preventing the Crimson Tide offense from being able to get in any sort of rhythm.

  1. Holloway Bounces Back

Alabama guard Aden Holloway has struggled to produce offense the past two games. Coming off a five-point performance on Tuesday, Holloway bounced back with a game more consistent with his average. Holloway’s team-high 19 points made for about the only bright spot for the Crimson Tide on Sunday as Alabama struggled to keep up with Florida.

Alabama will travel to Texas A&M on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will be televised on the SEC Network.
