National Wreaths Across America Day will be on Saturday, Dec. 18. There will be 2,500 locations across the United States hosting wreath-laying ceremonies. Forty-eight of those will be in Alabama.
The mission of Wreaths Across America is to remember fallen U.S. veterans, to honor those who serve and to teach children the value of freedom.
Thousands of schools, scouts, civic and religious groups will be involved in wreath-laying ceremonies. Groups have been selling wreaths throughout the year to raise funds for their organization.
Anyone interested in supporting the cause may purchase wreaths, donate or volunteer. There is also an online store with gifts, décor, apparel and more.
Wreaths are $15 each and the purchaser may choose the cemetery in which the wreath will be placed.
The “Sponsor a Wreath” package allows one wreath to be placed in honor of a veteran at a cemetery. You can also customize the wreath to be placed in the name of a loved one or customize the number of wreaths you would like to purchase.
The “Pair a Wreath” package provides one wreath for a veteran’s grave and a second wreath, with a branch flag, to be sent to an address of the purchaser’s choosing.
For anyone interested in hosting an event, Wreaths Across America offers support and it is free to be a host.
