U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) condemned the results of Tuesday night's mayoral election in New York, both expressing concern over Islamic Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani's victory.

Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly, defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa to become the city's youngest and first-ever Muslim mayor in history. Mamdani reportedly earned 50.4% of the vote while Cuomo garnered 41.6%. Silwa finished a distant third with 7.1%.

On X, after the election was called, Tuberville bluntly labeled Mamdani an "idiot" and stressed his "allegiance is to ISLAM, not to America."

"Mamdani’s allegiance is to ISLAM, not to America," Tuberville stated. "And we elected this idiot to be Mayor of New York City. It’s a disgrace and it’s EMBARRASSING.

In a follow-up post, the senator said America's largest city is "digging [its] own grave" by electing Mamdani.

"Mamdani is ISLAM FIRST and America last," Tuberville declared. "New York is digging their own grave."

Britt also took to X, arguing that Mamdani and other liberal victories across the United States on Tuesday weren't a "referendum on where the country is, they’re a referendum on where the Democratic Party is."

"Tonight, Democrats elected a socialist to run the financial capital of the world and an attorney general who is on the record fantasizing about murdering children," she stated. "These elections aren’t a referendum on where the country is, they’re a referendum on where the Democratic Party is."

Mamdani's win was part of a string of Democratic victories on Tuesday night. In Virginia, Jay Jones, a man who fantasized about killing a Republican lawmaker's children, was elected as the state's next Attorney General. Democrats also took over the governor's offices in New Jersey and Virginia.
