AUBURN — The packed crowd at Auburn University's Neville Arena got a surprise guest on Wednesday night when Eric Trump, one of the planned speakers for the This is the Turning Point Tour event, decided to call his dad on stage.
President Donald Trump quickly picked up the call from his second son, who told him that he was speaking with an "incredibly enthusiastic" crowd at Auburn University who loved him, the country and God. The call was met with a massive round of applause and cheer from the audience.
"[A] uburn's a special place, I've been there many times, and I know many people from that area, number one, and from that school," President Trump replied. "It's a great school. And we love Alabama. We won Alabama by 45 points, so we love it."
The president went on to pay his respects to the late Turning Point USA founder, Charlie Kirk, and his wife, Erika.
"[Erika] is a spectacular person," President Trump declared. "She's going to start where Charlie left off, and we should never allow this to happen. One of the greatest people we've ever known and was so responsible for our win.
"And we love Charlie. He's looking down on us right now, all of us, and Erika ... you take care of yourself. We're with you all of the way. And we're with the great people that my son and Lara are speaking to, and I love you all, as President of the United States, I love you all, and our country is doing great. We've never been in a position like this, the investments being made, all of the money coming in, and a lot of it is responsible that our great Charlie, I tell you what, he was always the first in line to help."
"We love you all," he concluded. "Thank you very much, everybody."
Other event guests included U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), conservative commentator Benny Johnson and Lara Trump.
