The Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee recently announced its endorsement of State Rep. Rhett Marques (R-Enterprise) in the upcoming special election for Congressional District 2.
The special election for CD-2 is slated for August 11. The special election in congressional districts 1,2 6 and 7 is taking place after last-minute court decisions allowing the state to use previously blocked congressional maps.
Since qualifying, Marques has received hefty endorsements, including the nod from President Donald Trump. Now, he can add the political arm of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives to the list.
"Throughout his time in the state Legislature, Rhett has been a strong advocate for policies that support economic growth, strengthen infrastructure and help Alabama's rural communities thrive," said Jeff Hodges, PAC chairman. "We have no doubt that he will bring that same commitment to Washington and be a strong advocate for Alabama's electric cooperatives.”
Marques, who has served in the Alabama House since 2018, welcomed the endorsement, voicing a commitment to advancing policies that strengthen American energy and support Alabama families.
“Electric cooperatives deliver reliable, affordable energy to the families, farms, and small businesses that power Alabama’s Second Congressional District,” he said. “I’m honored to have their endorsement as they help deliver American energy dominance. I’m running to keep fighting to unleash American energy, lower costs for hardworking families, strengthen our national security and restore the United States as the world’s leading energy producer.”
