Abbeville is once again looking for a police chief after the interim chief resigned Tuesday.

The resignation came one day after Chief Erik Cabrera was put on paid administrative leave following a city council executive session.

There was no reason given publicly for the decision.

Cabrera had been interim police chief for a year. He was appointed after former chief Eric Blankenship was elected Henry County Sheriff.

The City is now advertising a police chief job opening.

The Abbeville Police Department has six police officer positions but currently only has three of those positions filled.
