Throughout the description of Mobile's ACCEL Academy, you will see the words "innovate" and "innovation." A new method, idea, product. An improvement. A revolution.
The latest innovation at ACCEL Academy is the hiring of Dr. Jaclyn Stringer as the new principal of the high school division. She had most recently served as assistant principal at Saraland High School.
"This role is the ideal next step in my career, allowing me to foster innovation (that word again) and support student growth alongside a dedicated team. I look forward to facilitating an atmosphere where both students and educators can thrive," said Stringer.
She graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Ph.D in educational leadership and earned a master's degree in school counseling.
"Dr. Stringer brings the kind of experienced, student-centered leadership we value across our schools," said Dr. Marlon Firle, the superintendent of MAEF Public Charter Schools.

Stringer is set to begin her new role at ACCEL Academy immediately for the summer term.
Stringer brings relationships to ACCEL that can assist the development of the new-concept school. She is married to State Rep. Shane Stringer (R-Citronelle). She has never forgotten where she came from — the MOWA Tribe of Choctaw Indians. She has been an active innovator in her community.

ACCEL is Alabama's first public charter school, currently serving grades 6-12. It is a tuition-free public school providing "a next generation learning space." This innovative, personalized learning environment meets students where they are and puts them on a path to achieve their dreams after high school.
Here is the official description of ACCEL:
ACCEL’s staff is committed to help students gain the skills and mindset they need to build the future they aspire for themselves. Every student will graduate ready to succeed in college and to be employed in well-paying careers.
In 2016, the Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF) formed the subsidiary MAEF Public Charter Schools, Inc. (MAEF PCS) to (1) foster innovation (that word) in school designs in the Mobile area, (2) inspire students who are most in need and prepare them to graduate college or are career ready, and (3) serve as a center of learning and innovation (that word again) for educational best practices across the state and region.
As a first step to realizing the goals of MAEF PCS, a charter school proposal was submitted to and awarded by the Alabama Public Charter School Commission to form Alabama’s first charter school in August 2016. The school is the Acceleration (ACCEL) Day and Evening Academy.
What is a Charter School?
Charter schools are public, tuition-free schools open to any student who wishes to attend. Charter schools allow parents, organizations or community groups to restore, reinvent and reenergize public school systems. Charter schools are designed, tailored and governed by each local community rather than by a central bureaucracy.
