A Massachusetts-based liberal political action committee facing multiple investigations for potential fraud and illicit financial activity is sparing no expense in its effort to flip a traditionally conservative congressional seat in North Alabama.
According to the most recent Federal Election Commission records, ActBlue has contributed more than $211,300 in itemized individual contributions to liberal candidate and Huntsville native Andrew Sneed. Sneed is the current presumptive opponent of incumbent U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) in Alabama's upcoming Fifth congressional district general election
ActBlue's funding represents over half of Sneed's itemized individual contributions to date. Additionally, FEC records showed that ActBlue's contributions to the candidate have been broken down into over 100 payments, ranging from $1,890 to $18,141.96, making it, without comparison, his largest listed donor.
Before facing off against Strong, Sneed will be competing against long-shot candidate Candice Duvieilh in the district's upcoming Democratic runoff election scheduled for June 16.
