On Thursday's episode of Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) discussed the recent primary election wins notched by socialist Democrats in New York State.

"It's a shock, what's happened in the Democrat Party over the last two or three weeks with these socialist Democrats who are being elected and even unseating members of the Democrat Party," said Aderholt. "I can tell you the Democrat members who have been unseated in this election were not conservative Democrats. They were pretty liberal Democrats."

According to the legislator, the presence of socialism in America's elections is largely "isolated" to places like New York, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani recently backed several successful far-left candidates.

"If that's where the Democrat party is going, it's going to be crazy. We're just trying to process this and figure out why this is happening now. The encouraging thing about it is that we are now overseeing these Mamdani candidates pop up mainly in larger cities, so it is an isolated group of people."

Despite his relative optimism, Aderholt warned that socialist Democrats, who are now running for office, hold a view of America antithetical to its founders.

"At the same time, it's still very concerning that these people will be coming to Washington and be a member of Congress and representing views that I think are so opposite to what our founding fathers really had in mind about what the United States of America would be like," Aderholt added.
