The Alabama Education Association (AEA), the state public school teachers' union, is making a big bet on State Rep. Barbara Drummond's (D-Mobile) mayoral bid.

With just days until Mobile voters decide who will be the city's next mayor, the AEA has dropped $100,000 in Drummond's mayoral effort.

According to data from the Alabama Secretary of State's Office, Drummond received an additional $50,000 from the AEA in recent days, adding to the $50,000 already given to the campaign from the AEA this year.

Drummond's largest contribution was $50,000 from the Alabama Education Association (AEA), to go along with $50,000 already given to the campaign this year. In May, the AEA contributed $25,000, and in August, another $25,000 to Drummond.

The $50,000 contribution from AEA is the lion's share of Drummond's total $98,316 disclosed in her most recent report.
