Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall applauded a ruling by a federal appeals court on Friday that upheld a law requiring China-based ByteDance to sell TikTok next month or be banned in the United States.
The court rejected arguments by ByteDance’s attorneys that the law is unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment. The three judge panel cited national security concerns in support of the ruling.
“This is a huge victory for national security and for the privacy of our people. I am proud of our work in this case and look forward to partnering with the incoming administration on other ways to put America first!” Marshall said on X on Friday.
