A federal district court’s ruling on Thursday overturning a Biden-era Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) gender identity rule is a victory over “this absurd obsession with gender identity,” according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

The court found that the HHS exceeded its authority by implementing regulations redefining sex discrimination and prohibiting “gender identity discrimination.”

Marshall said on Thursday, “Huge victory in court against Biden-era HHS regulations that attempted to unlawfully expand sex discrimination to include gender identity under the Affordable Care Act.”

“Our 15-state coalition sued after the left tried to expand the regulations to require States to perform and fund sex-change procedures. The court vacated the regulations nationwide. We are the last line of defense against this absurd obsession with gender-identity, and I couldn’t be prouder of Alabama’s participation in this lawsuit,” he added.
