The dismissal of a criminal classified documents case against former President Donald Trump on Monday is a “failure of yet another attempt at lawfare/election interference,” according to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall.

Aileen Cannon, a federal judge in Florida, dismissed the criminal classified documents case against Trump ruling that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith as prosecutor for the case violated the appointments clause of the U.S. Constitution.

“It is encouraging to see the failure of yet another attempt at lawfare/election interference against Pres. Trump. As we noted in numerous briefs, the documents case against Pres. Trump was never about the rule of law, only confusing voters. The Constitution wins again,” Marshall said.
