Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics, and Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall is calling on Congress to act now to ensure that men are not allowed to compete in women's sports.

"Congress has an easy fix. Let's go back to Title IX. Let's make sure we are defining the word sex within its provision that you and I have both understood it since that law was passed in the 1970s, as God created boys and girls as we were born," Marshall said on Tuesday's broadcast of "The Lars Larson Show."

"And then to make sure that sports not only protect the integrity of women's opportunities but also the safety of women. Because we've seen, sadly, women that have been injured as a result of allowing males to participate in sports under the guise of being transgender. We need to make sure that we rectify this in Congress."

Despite Democrats' insistence on transgender issues, Marshall said the majority of the general public supported keeping men out of women's sports.

"Activist Democrats don't want to accept reality. This is an 80-20 issue among the general public. They want there to be fair competition," he said. "They want women to be able to safely and fairly compete."

Having led multiple lawsuits as AG to protect women's sports, Marshall hopes to continue that fight in the U.S. Senate if he wins his bid to take over the seat of U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), whom he also praised for being a "champion" on this issue despite Democrats continuing to "push back."

"Putting them on the record is not only critically important, but it also shows the American people who is the impediment to making sure that our girls are treated fairly."

President Donald Trump has issued executive orders recognizing biological genders, but Marshall said Congress needs to codify those into law to prevent Democrats from reversing the regulations.

"This needs to be a statutory fix, so that if Democrats get into office again, they can't come forward with these irrational regulations, pushing a transgender agenda as we saw during the Biden administration. We need Congress to be able to act and act in a way that protects girls."
