Lieutenant Gov. Will Ainsworth made it clear earlier this week that he opposed the Ivey administration's decision to borrow $730 million against future tax receipts to finance the so-called West Alabama Corridor.

Earlier this week, the sitting lieutenant governor took to social media to say Alabama Department of Transportation director John Cooper "should be embarrassed" for going forward with the project without seeking federal matching dollars.

In a follow-up on Facebook, Ainsworth listed other projects, calling them more worthy of consideration than the West Alabama Corridor.

"Projects that would be a better use of state transportation dollars than the $1.5 billion West Alabama Corridor: I-10, I-65, I-85, I-565, I-20/59, the Wiregrass Interstate Connector, and any other road you can imagine. There's already a West Alabama Corridor - it's called I-65."
