Can Al Roker predict NCAA basketball better than he predicts the weather? We will see.

The show's anchors all decided to become celebrity pickers for the NCAA basketball national championships, both men’s and women’s tournaments. Roker, the show's weather anchor, was the only one of the four who picked the Alabama Crimson Tide to win it all.

If Roker’s prediction comes true, it would be Bama’s very first national championship in basketball. The Tide have won 18 championships in football and numerous in other collegiate sports.

In 2024, Bama won its way into the NCAA’s Final Four for the very first time, so the only step up is to at least win its way into the championship game. Roker went one stop further up, picking Tide as the overall winner.

Roker also picked South Carolina to win the Women’s NCAA Championship. That is not a surprising pick, as the Lady Gamecocks have been there before.

To advance to the National Championship game, Alabama must first defeat BYU in the Sweet 16 on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. in Newark, N.J. Maybe Roker can go watch that game, which is near his home. Then, the Tide will have to win in the Elite Eight to advance to the Final Four for the second year in a row. Then, the Tide would have to win the semi-final game to advance to the final, the championship game, where they have never been.

That means that Alabama is only four wins away from winning the NCAA men’s basketball national championship and vindicating Al Roker’s Crimson Prediction.
