Alabama BeefPAC, the political arm of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA), announced its support of Secretary of State Wes Allen on Thursday in his campaign to be the state’s next lieutenant governor.

In addition to Alabama BeefPAC’s support, Allen has been endorsed by the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alabama Forestry Association, Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama, Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama, Alabama Trucking Association, Business Council of Alabama, Manufacture Alabama, the majority of the members of the Alabama Republican House Caucus, and 20 of the state’s Republican Sheriffs.

“Wes has a proven, conservative, business-friendly track record,” said ACA president Keith Glover. “We are confident his experience in various political roles has prepared him to lead our state and carry out priorities important to Alabama agriculture.”

The Republican primary election will be held on May 19.

“I am incredibly honored to receive the support of the hardworking men and women from across this state that raise the cattle that feed us,” Allen said. “Food security is national security. By supporting thousands of jobs and contributing more than $2.5 billion to Alabama’s economy, the state’s beef cattle industry plays a vital role in agriculture—Alabama’s leading economic driver.”

Other qualified candidates in the GOP primary include John Wahl, Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate, Nicole Wadsworth, Dean Odle, Dr. Stewart Tankersley and Pat Bishop.
