He sings "Poontang on the Pontoon" and "Talking to My Turd," but now, despite his raunch repertoire, one of Alabama's funniest coastal entertainers has his sights set on politics. Jack Robertson, also known as Alabama Big Earl, is running for Orange Beach City Council, Place 1.

Robertson has been a regular performer at Flora-Bama for years, but he said it's a comedy act and a job. He said he's serious about doing what is best for Orange Beach. He has already held several important city positions.

Robertson was appointed to the Orange Beach Planning Commission two years ago and was elected to the Orange Beach Water Authority five years ago. He has also volunteered for the Citizen police and Fire Advisory Panel for seven years.

"Orange Beach has been an incredible place for my family, and I'm eager for the opportunity to continue contributing to the growth and well-being of this amazing community," Robertson said in his campaign announcement. "While I'm not making promises, I can assure you that I'll approach every decision with fairness, dedication, and a focus on what's best for all of us."

Robertson has been outspoken about polarizing political topics, including the protection of women's sports. He called Democrats who want to allow boys to participate in women's sports "dumb ass bitches." He wrote a song to President Donald Trump called "Trump, We Don't Want Canada," and he wrote the song "Kamala," calling her the biggest loser and saying, "na-na-na-na-boo-boo."

He said he wants to run for council because he truly loves Orange Beach.

Robertson got his first taste of the Gulf Coast after high school when his manager at Sonic opened a restaurant in Foley. He opened the restaurant and worked in Foley for a year in the 80s, but he never forgot the beauty of Baldwin County.

He returned to the Gulf Coast and became at regular at Flora-Bama, singing songs such as "Two Tits on Her Back for Slow Dancin" and "Made Love to Your Mother." Robertson also created the fan-interactive "Titty Wheel," with options such as "Show those big ole' tatas" and "Sweet Home Alabama."

People come from all over to see Alabama Big Earl, and he has become a part of the Flora-Bama scene. Robertson is proud of Alabama Big Earl, and he said it has offered more than laughs. The act has provided money for charity, including Mary's Shelter in Elberta and St. Jude. He said he has never turned anyone down who came for help.

Robertson is a retired cardiac ultrasound teacher. He and his wife, Jamie, have been married for 18 years. He told 1819 News he is a serious family man and hopes voters realize he doesn't mean everything he sings about.

"I've had two careers," Robertson explained. "Comedy and a professional career, and I know how to separate them. I've proven that on the Water Authority and the Planning Commission."

"Those are two separate careers," he continued. "I guess it'd be like somebody asking Clint Eastwood when he got to be mayor how he felt about shooting all those people in the head in the movies."

Alabama Big Earl performs at Flora-Bama every Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Annette Mitchell currently holds the Place 1 seat on the Orange Beach City Council and will run for re-election.

The municipal election will be on August 26.
