The Alabama Bureau of Pardons & Paroles (ABPP), partnering with Alabama Power, the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), and J.F. Ingram State Technical College (ISTC), will host an Alabama Experience (ALEX) mobile job fair.

ABPP director Cam Ward, ISTC president Annette Funderburk and Jerry Grissom, Alabama Power VP of Labor Relations and Workforce Development, will speak at the event designed to connect parolees with employers who can utilize their skill set and possibly slow down parolee recidivism rates in Alabama.

According to a statement from ABPP, The Alabama Experience, or ALEX, is a mobile exhibit featuring a collection of interactive kiosks and informational pieces. The knowledgeable staff will also walk visitors through every aspect of life in Alabama, from work and play to the costs of living.

This workforce development tool will allow people to be introduced to the building trades, learn about post-high school educational opportunities, interact with local employees and connect them to thriving careers in the state. Those interested in finding work here will even be matched to specific industries and introduced electronically to the proper representatives.

ISTC will be there recruiting heavy equipment operators, forklift drivers, skid steer operators or those who want to earn a certificate to operate that machinery.

Amazon, Turner Construction, Limestone Staffing and SK Staffing Solutions will be there recruiting for various job openings they have that parolees may have acquired through a program in prison or already had the skill set for.

The event will be on April 18 at the Huntsville Day Reporting Center from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
