Alabama basketball has received a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
During Sunday's bracket announcement show on CBS, Alabama was revealed as the No. 2 seed in the East Region. The Crimson Tide will play their first-round game in Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday against the No. 15 seed Robert Morris. Alabama will find out the tip-off time and which network will be televising Friday’s game later Sunday night.
If the Crimson Tide get by Robert Morris, they will face the winner of No. 7 seed Saint Mary’s and No. 10 seed Vanderbilt on Sunday in Cleveland.
Sweet 16 and Elite 8 matchups would be played in Newark, New Jersey, on March 27 and 29 if Alabama is fortunate enough to make it that far. Potential opponents for the Sweet 16 are No. 3 seed Wisconsin and No. 6 seed BYU. On the top half of the East bracket is No. 1 seed Duke.
The selection committee ranked Alabama as the sixth highest team overall and second highest No. 2 seed behind Tennessee.
Alabama has secured at least a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament for the third time in the last five seasons. In 2021, they were seeded No. 2, and in 2023, they claimed the top overall seed. Despite being upset in the Sweet 16 both years, they made history last year by reaching their first-ever Final Four as a No. 4 seed.
Alabama's current streak of five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances ties its 2002-2006 run as the second-longest in program history. The Tide's longest streak remains six straight appearances from 1982 to 1987.
The Crimson Tide finished the season 25-8 overall and 13-5 in SEC play. Alabama was eliminated in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament on Saturday by Florida. The Gators advanced to the championship game and defeated Tennessee.
