The Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) announced on Thursday its endorsement of State Sen. Jack Williams (R-Wilmer) for Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.
Williams has represented Senate District 34 since 2018. Before being elected to the Senate, he served one term in the Alabama House of Representatives. Throughout his time in the legislature, Williams has made the forest industry a top priority, according to AFA.
Williams currently serves as the vice chair of the Senate Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and the Banking and Insurance Committee.
Williams sponsored legislation to improve the safety and efficiency of hauling timber to forest products mills. Increasing efficiency and reducing the regulatory burden will reduce costs, ensuring Alabama’s landowners, loggers, and forest products mills remain competitive, according to AFA.
“I really consider this an honor and am humbled to have been endorsed by the Alabama Forestry Association,” Williams said. “As a timber owner, I know the importance and the major impact that the timber industry has on our state, the jobs it creates, and the families it supports. I also understand the hardships that unwarranted regulations can have on this industry. As the next Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, I will continue working to reduce and eliminate unnecessary regulations that hinder this business. When elected, I will continue to stand with our hardworking loggers, landowners, and timber manufacturers.”
Williams and his wife, Bobbie, own a family-run farming operation that includes cattle, timber, and hay production. They also own a nursery business that is one of the largest nursery operations in the country.
“Jack has distinguished himself as a champion for rural communities in Alabama,” said Chris Isaacson, AFA president and CEO. “He has demonstrated his commitment to the forestry community, and we have seen how hard he is willing to fight for what is in our best interest. We are proud to support him to be the next Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries and look forward to partnering with him to continue to grow forestry’s impact in Alabama’s rural communities.”
The primary election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
