A Hobby Lobby employee is charged with sexually assaulting a fellow employee on Christmas Eve.
According to an arrest warrant and other Morgan County court documents, officers with the Decatur Police Dept. were called to Hobby Lobby on Dec. 24, 2021. The 17-year-old victim claimed that Adam Stanley, 37, forced her into the back area of the store’s stockroom and sexually assaulted her.
The victim told police she was able to get away and inform a store manager, who then called the police.
Stanley was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse on Dec. 29, 2021. He was released on a $15,000 bond that same day.
The court documents further state that Stanley provided a statement in which he confessed to the assault after officers read his Miranda rights, saying that he believed he took it too far.
Alabama law classifies sexual assault in the first degree as a class-C felony. Class-C felonies carry a penalty of a minimum of one-year imprisonment and a maximum of ten years.
Stanley is considered innocent until proven guilty.
