The University of Alabama football team remained at No. 8 in the country in this week's Associated Press top 25 college football poll after taking down LSU, which entered the game ranked 13th in the AP poll, on Saturday.
In a high-scoring affair, the Crimson Tide beat the Tigers from the Bayou 42-28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Alabama now holds sole possession of the lead in the SEC West. The Tide are currently poised to square off with No. 1 Georgia in the SEC Championship should the two teams win out.
Winning the SEC Championship would almost guarantee the Tide one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff. The next College Football Playoff rankings will come out on Tuesday.
The top four spots in the poll were unchanged from last week with No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Florida State.
Next on the schedule for the Tide is a game at Kentucky on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. on ESPN.
