After securing two wins over ranked teams last week, including then-top-ranked University of North Carolina, the Alabama Crimson Tide leaped in-state rival Auburn in the newest AP top 25 college basketball poll.
Alabama jumped seven spots to 11th in the country, while Auburn fell two spots to 15th despite remaining undefeated on the season.
The Tide went 2-1 in last week's Phil Knight Invitational, finishing third after defeating both Michigan State, ranked 12th at the time, and UNC, who dropped to the 18th spot after losing two games as the top-ranked team. They lost to eventual tournament champs UCONN, who moved from 20th to No. 8 after winning the invitational.
Auburn squeaked by Northwestern and dominated Bradley to win the Cancun Challenge last week and then scraped by a tough St. Louis team on Sunday to move to 7-0 on the year.
The 6-1 Tide tip-off again Saturday, December 3, at home against South Dakota State. The Tigers host Colgate on Friday, December 2.
