State and federal elected officials representing Alabama sided with Israel over Iran on Thursday.

Israel stated the strikes against Iran on Thursday were necessary to deter the country’s nuclear ambitions.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement on Thursday, “Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.”

“Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense. President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel,” Rubio said in a statement.

Governor Kay Ivey said, “Alabama will always proudly stand with Israel!”

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) said, “Please join me in praying for Israel.”

U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said, “America stands with Israel. Please join Heather and I in praying for them tonight.”

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said, “Please join me in praying for Israel tonight.”

“America will always stand with Israel,” he added.

U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said, “Israel has a right to defend itself from those who wish it harm and its extinction. And there is no greater threat to Israel than the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran. These strikes tonight come not because of Israel but because of the path Iran has chosen. Years of appeasement under President Biden has put the world at risk of nuclear escalation.”

“If Iran is foolish enough to attack American services members or facilities, President Trump will no doubt respond in an overwhelming fashion. Please pray for Israel as they work to eliminate the Iranian threat,” he added.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said, “We stand firmly with our ally as it acts to ensure the safety and sovereignty of its citizens.”
