Coming out of SEC Media Days this week in Nashville, the University of Alabama football team has been picked to win the SEC West, while Auburn University has been picked to finish sixth in the division.
The SEC media picked Georgia to win the East and the conference, marking the first time since 2015 that a team not coached by Nick Saban has been picked to win the SEC.
Alabama picked up 165 first-place votes and 1,899 total points, while LSU finished not far behind with 117 first-place votes and 1,838 total points). Auburn, picked to finish only ahead of Mississippi State in the West, had four first-place votes and only 685 total points.
Only nine times since 1992 has the SEC Media Days predicted champion gone on to win the SEC Championship.
