Authorities in Mobile are investigating an incident after a Mobile Port Authority truck went into the Mobile River early Thursday morning.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. The Alabama Port Authority identified the driver as Officer Kimberly Sickafoose.
The truck and Sickafoose's body were recovered separately Thursday morning.
"Officer Sickafoose always had a kind word, a smile and a story to share (usually about her family or beloved labrador retrievers)," Port Authority director John Driscoll said in a statement. "She was a bright light and will be deeply missed."
Mobile Fire-Rescue crews assisted in the search and recovery efforts. Foul play is not suspected.
