Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson made it official on his Instagram that he is entering the 2026 NFL Draft.

Simpson wrote in his post, "Grateful for every single second. Blessed beyond measure to be able to chase my dreams. Time to roll. Roll Tide."

After three years of patient development in Tuscaloosa, Ty Simpson’s wait finally ended in 2025. Stepping into the starting role for Alabama, Simpson delivered a breakout season that immediately established him as one of the premier quarterbacks in the SEC.

He showcased remarkable efficiency, completing 64.5% of his throws (305-of-473) for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns, while surrendering only five interceptions. His production was among the best in the conference, finishing second in the SEC in both passing yardage and passing touchdowns. Beyond his arm talent, Simpson proved to be a versatile threat on the ground, consistently extending drives by averaging six carries per game. Over the course of the season, he tallied 93 rushing yards and found the end zone twice as a runner

Simpson led the Crimson Tide to an 11-4 record, including a College Football Playoff win over Oklahoma in the first round. However, Simpson’s stellar season had a painful conclusion in the Rose Bowl. In a lopsided 38–3 loss to Indiana, the quarterback was limited to just 67 passing yards and no touchdowns before being forced to the sidelines with a rib injury.

In the first half of the season, Simpson worked his way up as high as the Heisman Trophy favorite as well as the projected No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. An underwhelming second half to the season, which many believe was due to battling an undisclosed injury, caused his stock to drop slightly. Despite the slight fall, Simpson is projected as the third quarterback to be taken in the upcoming draft.
