The Alabama Republican Party released a statement announcing that the Party Primary qualifying will open on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. and will end on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 5 p.m. These dates were set by the primary resolution passed by the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee.

Numerous offices are up for election or reelection on the 2022 ALGOP Primary ballot including:

  • Governor

  • Lt. Governor

  • Attorney General

  • Secretary of State

  • Commissioner of Agriculture and Industry

  • Treasurer

  • State Auditor

  • One (1) U.S. Senate seat

  • All seven U.S. House seats

  • Two (2) Alabama Supreme Court seat

  • Two (2) Public Service Commission seats

  • Four (4) Alabama Board of Education seats

  • 105 (All) Alabama House of Representatives seats

  • 35 (All) Alabama Senate seats

  • All District Attorney positions

  • Dozens of Circuit and District Court judicial seats

  • The Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee (the governing body of the ALGOP)

Anyone wishing to qualify for the Republican ballot can do so online at www.algop.org or in-person at ALGOP headquarters (3505 Lorna Road, Birmingham, AL 35216) starting Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, at 8:30 a.m.

"The Alabama Republican Party is excited about the 2022 election cycle,” said Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl. “We are looking forward to a vigorous campaign season and fighting for the rights and values of the people of Alabama. We plan on doing our part to help Republicans take back the U.S. House and Senate as we work to restore America.”

All qualifying forms and fees must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. Failure to do so will result in the denying of ballot access.

Alabama Democrat Party qualifying began on Dec. 6 and runs until Jan. 28 at 5 p.m.

The major party primaries will both be held on May 24, 2022.
