President Donald Trump has nominated Alabama Supreme Court Justice Greg Cook to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

"The people of the Great State of Alabama are in good hands with Greg on the Federal Bench," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post announcing the nomination.

"I am pleased to announce the nomination of Justice Gregory Cook to serve as a Judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Greg was elected to the Alabama Supreme Court in 2022. Before joining the Bench, he had a private practice career spanning more than three decades. Greg also served our Country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. Greg is a Graduate of Duke University and Harvard Law School," Trump wrote.

U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) congratulated Cook on the nomination.

"Congratulations to Greg Cook on his nomination to serve as a federal district judge for the Northern District of Alabama," Britt wrote in a social media post.

"@POTUS selected a highly-qualified, well-respected Alabamian who brings years of experience to the federal bench. This is an incredible pick, and I look forward to his confirmation," she continued.

Cook graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Federalist Society’s Journal of Law and Public Policy. He worked as a partner at Balch & Bingham for 30 years before running for the state Supreme Court, according to his biography on the Supreme Court website.

He has been married to his wife, Kimberly, a Vestavia Hills City Councilwoman, since 1988. They have three children.

Cook was elected on a promise to be “boring and predictable.”
