While the numbers have shifted in reaction to President Donald Trump’s policies six months into his second term, Alabama remains one of the staunchest supporters of the president as he enacts his controversial policies on immigration, trade and spending.
The polling from Morning Consult, which provides weekly updated numbers on what voters across the country think about how the president and Republicans in Congress are governing the United States ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, shows that Trump holds a 60% approval rating in Alabama.
For the entire nation, Trump faces down a slight 51% majority in those who disapprove of his performance, with 45% claiming to approve.
Trump’s approval ratings ticked back down this week after he signed the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) into law. Those initial gains followed U.S. strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities last month.
Voters are nine points more likely to disapprove than approve of Trump’s handling of health care, 50% to 41%, following media coverage of OBBBA’s cuts to Medicaid funding. This marks a significant reversal since Trump took office, when voters were 9 points more likely to approve than disapprove of his handling of health care.
Disapproval of Trump’s presidency has not reached Alabama, however, with 60% voicing support for the president, compared to just 35% expressing disapproval. The most recent numbers are down from March, when Trump enjoyed a 65% approval rating.
Alabama was tied for fourth place as the state with the most Trump support, sharing the +26 ranking with Idaho and Oklahoma. Alabama trails behind North Dakota (+27), West Virginia at (+33) and Wyoming, which leads the pack with a high score of +44.
