The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, which codifies 15 of President Donald Trump's executive orders into law pending Senate approval.

"This is a strong bipartisan bill that delivers for our warfighters and deters our adversaries," U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks) said Wednesday on the House floor. "It will fundamentally reform the defense acquisition enterprise. It will continue historic improvements in the quality of life for our servicemembers and their families, and it will build the ready, capable, lethal fighting force we need to deter China and our adversaries. And it will deliver on President Trump's peace-through-strength agenda."

The over 3,000-page bill covers $900.6 billion in spending — $8 billion more than Trump asked for. Some of the provisions include ending diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the Pentagon, declaring a national emergency at the Southern border to further quell illegal immigration, building the Golden Dome defense system and providing a 3.8% pay raise and improved benefits for military families.

The bill passed 312-112, with all of Alabama's delegation voting in favor. It now goes to the Senate for consideration.

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Huntsville) said on X, "I am proud of the provisions in the FY26 NDAA that support the critical role North Alabama plays in our national defense. I thank Chairman [Mike Rogers] for his hard work to support our service members and [U.S. Space Command] moving to our great state."

"Proud to have voted YES on this year's NDAA to advance the peace-through-strength agenda, increase national security, and deliver results for our troops," U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) said.

U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) called it a "win for the American people."

"Proud of the conservative wins in this bill, but most proud of the pay raise House GOP just approved for our nation's men and women in uniform!" U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) said on X.

U.S. Reps. Shomari Figures (D-Mobile) and Terri Sewell (D-Birmingham) praised the bill for improving servicemembers' quality of life and national security.

Sewell said, "Today I voted YES on the annual defense authorization bill to support our service members and protect our national security."

"Our service members sacrifice every day to keep us safe, and they deserve better pay, housing, and access to meals," Figures said on X. "The pay increase, along with strengthened food programs and improved housing allowances, is a step in the right direction, but more remains to be done for the military community. These provisions will benefit service members and their families, from Maxwell Air Force Base and the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile in my district to communities across America, and support for HBCUs like Alabama State and Tuskegee, driving resources and opportunities back into our communities."
