The Jackson County, Miss. Sheriff’s Department arrested a man accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend from Alabama.
Melvin Hill is charged with kidnapping, motor vehicle theft and sexual battery.
Investigators said the victim escaped while at a Circle K gas station in St. Martin on July 31. Deputies responded at approximately 9 a.m. after the victim ran into the gas station and alerted employees. She told detectives she was kidnapped from her home in Alabama and was sexually assaulted in multiple jurisdictions.
Hill was taken into custody as he attempted to flee back to Alabama. He was booked into the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department’s Adult Detention Center.
Additional charges in neighboring jurisdictions are expected.
