The Young Republican Federation of Alabama held its annual state convention this past weekend, electing leaders, training members and networking as the group prepares for the year ahead.

According to a statement released by the organization, Stephanie Petelos Nabavian was unanimously re-elected to a second term as chairman of the federation. Also re-elected to serve another term were: Nate Butler as vice chairman, Jared Downing as national committeeman, Gracie Overstreet as national committeewoman, Eric Lee as treasurer, and first-time board member Ralyn McLaughlin, who was elected Secretary.

Additionally, the release said, the following congressional district vice chairmen were re-elected to represent their respective districts:

  • CDl - Sandy Howard
  • CO2 - Cedric Coley
  • CD3 - Logan Glass
  • CD4 - Vincent WIihite
  • CDS - Daniel CeCi
  • CD6 - River Moris
  • CD7 - John Morgan Owens

Speakers at the meeting included Secretary of State Wes Allen and Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate. The event also included a special panel featuring State Reps. Brock Colvin (R-Albertville), Jeana Ross (R-Arab) and Jim Carns (R-Vestavia Hills).

At the meeting, YRFA also chartered a new chapter: The Baldwin County Young Republicans. The Baldwin chapter joins recent chapters in Shelby County, Pickens County, Mobile County, and Lee County in growing the reach of the state organization.

"The energy and commitment of our members is inspiring," said Petelos Nabavian in the statement. "With this leadership team and the addition of new chapters, we're well-positioned to make an even greater impact heading into 2026 and beyond."

In a written statement to 1819 News, she expanded, "We’re excited to assist in the 2026 general cycle to get our members out knocking doors and making calls for candidates statewide and locally."

"Our major focus will be growing existing chapters and establishing new chapters around the country. We have an excellent board in place and expect a lot of growth for our organization," Petelos Nabavian added.
