Dobbs Bar-B-Que in Dothan has closed its doors after serving the local community and travelers for decades.

The famous "bar-b-que" joint was first opened in 1910 by Euell Dobbs. It is the second-oldest barbecue restaurant in the state. Golden Rule, which opened in 1891 in Irondale, is the oldest.

The restaurant moved from Tallassee to Dothan in 1948.

Along with the famous barbecue pork, Dobbs is known for a camp stew, smoked turkey and ribs.

According to Rickey Stokes News, once word got out that the establishment was planning to close on Sunday, it immediately sold out, making Saturday its last day of business.
