An Albertville real estate agent is facing a federal charge after prosecutors said they discovered her involvement in a violent criminal enterprise that smuggled illegal aliens into the United States.

Arely Guzman, 28, is charged with conspiracy to transport illegal aliens.

Guzman, who, according to a criminal complaint, is a member of the Albertville Chamber of Commerce, has been outspoken on social media against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Court documents show Guzman's known illegal actions date back to June 2024, when federal authorities say her actions led to the aggravated shooting of an illegal alien, extortion and hostage-taking in Houston.

Investigators discovered evidence after they seized her phone in May this year when the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office responded to a man who was assaulted and his family threatened after he did not pay the criminal organization. Prosecutors claim to have found documentation on Guzman's phone showing she was "involved with smuggling special interest migrants to include Chinese Nationals."

Authorities believe Santoyo Guzman, an incarcerated inmate, orchestrated the criminal enterprise, and Guzman smuggled loads and acted as a financial facilitator.

Guzman is also accused of doxing an ICE agent in the Albertville area. She is facing multiple charges in DeKalb County, including doxing and unlawful possession of a controlled substance – meth and a forbidden person possessing a firearm.

Guzman is scheduled to appear in court on December 31. She is considered innocent until proven guilty.
