The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will open a new portion of Canal Road in South Baldwin County on Monday.

"Traffic will now utilize a portion of the newly constructed roundabout as part of this new traffic pattern," ALDOT stated.

The process of shifting traffic is expected to take a full day. Only one lane will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. During that time, flagging operations will be underway, and construction vehicles will enter and exit the area. Concrete barriers will be near the travel lanes, so ALDOT urges motorists to use extra caution.
