The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) confirmed the death of a crew leader who was struck by a vehicle while performing routine maintenance.
Amad Jackson, 24, an ALDOT employee, was hit on Alabama State Route 51 in Bullock County. He later succumbed to his injuries, ALDOT said.
“I ask that you pray for his family and loved ones as they navigate this tragic loss. This is a solemn reminder for us all to use extreme caution whenever driving through work zones,” said Josh Kervin, ALDOT Southeast Region Engineer.
ALDOT is providing support to staff and the victim's family.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating.
