Special agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) arrested Michael Barnett, 61, of Camp Hill, for making terroristic threats and rendering false alarm to a hospital on Wednesday.

Central Alabama Veterans Medical Center in Montgomery received a threatening call to the crisis hotline on Wednesday morning. Special agents with ALEA and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) responded to assist with the lockdown and search for the suspect.

Further investigation led to Barnett's arrest at his Camp Hill residence.

Barnett was charged with making terroristic threats and rendering false alarm to a hospital. Barnett was booked into the Montgomery County Jail with an $18,000 bond. The lockdown at the Central Alabama Veterans Medical Center has since been lifted.

Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System initially urged the public to avoid the Montgomery VA Hospital on Perry Hill Road while it investigated an "active threat" situation.
