The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting involving ALEA personnel.

The shooting happened during the pursuit of a man on a Harley-Davidson Sportster.

At approximately 8:08 p.m. Saturday, the trooper attempted to stop the motorcycle on Cobbs Ford Road in Prattville. The driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Interstate 65 into Montgomery. After exiting the interstate, the driver stopped in the 2800 block of Springfield Drive and began to run on foot. The trooper continued the pursuit until the suspect pulled out a knife, investigators said. ALEA personnel then fatally shot the man.

The suspect was identified as Jacob B. Hutchinson, of Lawley. No officers were injured.

Friends and family are asking for prayers for loved ones on social media. Hutchinson's last Facebook post was of Psalm 23:4, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."

ALEA will investigate and present its findings to the Alabama Attorney General's Office.
