The Alabama Farmers Federation (ALFA) recently announced its endorsement of State Rep. Ernie Yarbrough (R-Trinity) for House District 7, which covers portions of Colbert, Lawrence and Morgan Counties.
Yarbrough was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2022. He grew up in Lawrence County and earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Yarbrough was employed for 10 years with Nucor Steel in Decatur and now owns a small business. He serves on the Children and Senior Advocacy and State Government committees in the House.
"The farmers' endorsement is important to me because we both champion conservative principles and ideals," Yarbrough said. "The work of the farmers of Colbert, Lawrence, and Morgan counties is vital to our success as a district, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to make House District 7 the best it can be."
Yarbrough and his wife, Myra, have four children. They attend Trinity Presbyterian Church.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state's largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a true grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Farmers Federation boards of directors for local elections.
"Rep. Yarbrough is a concerned citizen and conservative House member," said Luther Bishop, president of the Colbert County Farmers Federation. "He has been and will continue to be a strong voice for us in Montgomery."
John Tucker, president of the Lawrence County Farmers Federation, said, "Rep. Yarbrough is a hard-working conservative."
"We support his reelection bid because we know he'll continue to support the work of the farmers and all the people of House District 7," Tucker said.
Mike Reeves, president of the Morgan County Farmers Federation, said, "Rep. Yarbrough is a conservative legislator who has represented us well in Montgomery."
"He realizes the importance of farming and will continue to be a strong, conservative voice for us in the Legislature," Reeves said.
