Alabama Republican Party chairman Scott Stadthagen believes the state is now fully prepared for special elections in multiple districts.
"Finally, after all this chaos, we finally feel confident in using the '23 maps," the chairman explained on Wednesday's broadcast of Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show."
"We feel confident as a party moving forward and gaining some seats back. I'm looking forward to getting our candidates elected, getting our team put together and getting ready for the big battle in the general."
Stadthagen doesn't anticipate any further legal holdups on special elections and slammed the federal three-judge panel that blocked the use of a 6-1 Republican congressional map passed by state lawmakers in 2023.
"No, that's it. We are finally done. We can finally start moving forward with a game plan," he said. "There was so much uncertainty before and confusion. We have people who have literally qualified three different times to run for a seat, which is crazy. When I go back to the three branches of government, when you have the judiciary branch trying to do the legislative branch's work, this is what happens."
"It creates chaos," Stadthagen added.
Special elections in the state will be held on August 11.
