Heath Allbright narrowly edged out his opponent, Don Fallin, in the Republican primary election for House District 11 on Tuesday.
Allbright received 1,909 votes out of the 3,521 cast, according to the unofficial results posted on the Alabama Secretary of State’s website. Fallin received 1,609, or 45.7%.
With 35,785 registered voters, voter turnout was around 9.9%.
"Thank you, District 11! I am deeply honored by the trust voters in District 11 have placed in me,” Allbright posted Tuesday night on his campaign Facebook page. "I’m ready to fight for our families, schools, and businesses, ensuring our community thrives while preserving the values that make Blount and Cullman Counties home.”
Fallin congratulated Allbright and thanked his supporters for an "incredible journey."
"The voters have spoken, and I would like to give my very best congratulations to Heath Allbright in his victory," Falling said on Facebook. "I want to thank my family, friends, volunteers, donors, and each and every voter in District 11 for giving me the opportunity to run for the Alabama House of Representatives. It has been an incredible journey and I'm thankful for all of the support!"
Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth also praised Allbright for his victory.
"Congratulations to Republican nominee for House District 11, Heath Allbright. As a husband, father, and small business owner, Heath understands the challenges Alabamians face, and I am confident he will be a strong, conservative voice in the House," he said on X.
Allbright will take on Democratic candidate Alexandria Braswell in the general election for HD11.
The winner will take over the seat after former State Rep. Randall Shedd (R-Fairview) resigned in February to join State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger's (R-Cullman) staff.
