A Mobile man charged with rape was re-arrested after running away after initially being arrested in Priceville during a traffic stop on Wednesday.

According to Huntsville’s WAAY-TV, Priceville Police Department officers conducted a vehicle stop southbound on Interstate 65 near mile marker 334 for minor traffic violations on Wednesday night on Travis Hill, Jr.

Hill had a felony extradition arrest warrant for probation revocation on a rape charge through the Mobile Police Department and was arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail, according to WAAY.

When they arrived at the jail, police say the transporting officer parked outside the sally port since it was occupied.

Hill escaped after the officer removed Hill from the patrol car at the jail and began fleeing from police, but wasn’t familiar with the area and ran straight to the Decatur Police Department, where he was caught.

Hill was additionally charged with escape and attempting to elude, according to WAAY.

A Morgan County Circuit Judge set Hill’s bond at $83,000 with an ankle monitor required as a condition of release. A hold was placed on Hill for the Mobile Police Department, according to the outlet.
