Auburn pitcher Andreas Alvarez turned in a career-high seven scoreless innings, and Chris Rembert blasted a solo-shot over the wall in left field to enforce the mercy-rule in a 10-0 midweek win for the sixth-ranked Tigers over South Alabama at DABOS Stadium on Tuesday.

“I just think it’s one of the most complete games this year,” said Auburn head coach Butch Thompson.

The win improved the Tigers to 7-0 away from home this season and 8-1 all-time in Montgomery under Thompson.

Alvarez, who fanned eight Jaguars with four hits relinquished, has not allowed an earned run in his last four starts and improved to 4-1 on the season.

“His breaking ball kept landing, and that’s taking him to another level,” Thompson said.

Rembert, who paced the team with four RBIs, blasted his third homer of the season to cap off the Tigers’ scoring efforts. Auburn outhit South Alabama 12-4, with four Tigers recording multiple hits.

Cade Bleyeu recorded his first 3-hit game of the season and second multi-hit game with two RBIs.

The Tigers scored three runs across the first two frames. A Chase Fralick double in the opening inning plated Rembert before a single and a flyout gave Auburn a pair of runs in the second.

With Alvarez cruising on the rubber, Auburn sent seven batters to the box in the fourth. After Lucas Steele led off the frame with a walk, Brandon McCraine and Belyeu singled to load the bases. Rembert pulled a one-out, two-RBI single through to left field before a pair of flyouts ended the inning.

Alvarez retired 12 in a row between the fourth and sixth frames, with a trio of 1-2-3 innings on the night.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the seventh, Belyeu recorded his third hit of the night with a double to right-center field. Carter then pierced a two-run single to right field before he was thrown out in hopes of an extra base hit.

Rembert blasted the Tigers’ only longball of the night in the eighth to enforce the mercy rule.

Auburn will travel to Sewell-Thomas Stadium to take on Alabama in a weekend series. First pitch Friday is set for 6 p.m. on SECN+.
