On Jan. 20, 2025, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, and the Albertville High School Aggie Band will be there to help mark the historic occasion.

Aggie Band Director Taylor Cash recently announced on Facebook that the band had been invited to Washington, D.C., to perform in President-elect Trump's inaugural parade.

"We're excited to take about 350 kids with us. This was really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us to be a part of history, such a huge event," Cash said in the video. "... We're going to have eight to 10 buses full of kids heading up to our nation's capital."

The Aggie band has played at notable events before, such as The Rose Bowl and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but this will be their first time in D.C.

"This will be the first-ever time for the band to be invited to perform in this parade… We're really excited to put these students on television in front of millions of people around the world," Cash said.

State Rep. Brock Colvin (R-Albertville) told 1819 News he also plans to attend the inauguration — his first — and cheer on his high school alma mater as they march in the parade.

"It's an honor for them. A lot of our local bands, Albertville and Boaz, have been to the Rose Bowl, to France, the Macy's Day parade. We have some great bands here in the county, but those parades happen every year," Colvin said. "Inaugurations happen every four years, so it's really a rare event. On top of that, it's only the second time in the history of our country where a president has been reelected to a non-consecutive term. So it really is a historic event. I hope they soak it in."

He added, "I had heard through the grapevine that they didn't even apply, that Trump's team asked them to perform. So I think that just shows the recognition they have across our country here in Albertville."
