City Councilwoman Jennifer Andress handily won Homewood's mayoral election with 71% of the vote.
Andress went up against Robin Litaker, a former educator. According to results posted on the City of Homewood’s election page, three out of four of the newly drawn wards went to progressive candidates.
Andress has served two terms, totaling nine years, on the Homewood City Council. She was first elected in 2016 and then reelected in 2020. She received 3,658 votes to Litaker’s 1,464
Other Council results as posted by the City:
Ward 1: Paul Simmons II defeated Tiffany McIntyre with 662 votes to her 369.
Ward 2: Nick Sims, the incumbent, defeated a challenge by JJ Thomas, 895 votes to 693.
Ward 3 will have a runoff election with Manzelli and Chris Lane facing off. Manzelli got 656 votes to Lane’s 465. Greg Cobb had 79 votes, and Keith Young had 129.
Ward 4: Winslow Armstead defeated Kristin Williams 691 votes to 512.
According to the city’s website, canvassing of returns will take place on Tuesday, September 2, at 12 pm, at City Hall.
