A suspect has been arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband after being caught allegedly delivering significant contraband to Donaldson Correctional in Jefferson County.
An Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) K-9 officer reportedly received a public complaint about a drone and a suspicious package on state property near Donaldson.
Upon investigation, the officer recovered the drone and duffel bag filled with various contraband. After reports of a suspicious vehicle fleeing the scene, ADOC issued an alert for the vehicle, which was later stopped by police in Heflin.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as David Anderson. He was taken to the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office, where ADOC investigators interviewed him. Anderson was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to promote prison contraband and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
The duffle bag allegedly contained three pounds of marijuana, 400 ml of suspected synthetic narcotic, 36 cell phones, 38 charger cords, seven pairs of smart sunglasses and assorted tobacco products.
