During a press call on Thursday, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), once again took Senate Democrats to task for prolonging the government shutdown at the expense of American citizens.
“Senate Democrats have voted to keep the government closed for the seventh time because Republicans still refuse to give away $2 billion of your taxpayer dollars to fund health care for illegals,” said Tuberville.
The lawmaker specifically called out Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) for caving to the far left in his party and continuing the government shutdown.
“We voted again Thursday and had the same result, with no changes. Chuck Schumer and his party seem to forget that they're here working for the American people,” Tuberville noted. “Hopefully, he'll stop listening to AOC and the radical Democrats soon and stop holding Americans hostage for illegal aliens.”
Despite Democrats voting continuously to keep the government closed, Republicans are using the circumstances as a chance to install over 100 nominees selected by President Donald Trump.
“In the meantime, Senate Republicans are continuing our work to achieve President Trump's agenda. This week, we confirmed 107 more of President Trump's nominees,” Tuberville revealed.
“As I've said before, the government may be closed, but Team Tuberville is still hard at work and open for business,” the senator added.
